CRLA is excited to announce the dates for the upcoming Summer Institute for Mentor and Tutor Trainers!

The Summer Institute will be held July 30 through August 2, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.  Participants will sign up for either the Mentor Trainer Track or the Tutor Trainer Track. Registration is strictly limited to 35 participants per track in order to keep the groups small and allow for one-on-one interaction with faculty members.

For those participants who want to learn more about CRLA’s International Mentor Training Program Certification (IMTPC) or International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC), we will offer a 3-hour pre-conference workshop on July 30.

Registration is $675 for CRLA members and $775 for nonmembers.  Registration includes the Institute registration fee, training resources, breakfast and lunch on July 31-August 2, and a welcome reception on July 30.

Rooms at the Ritz-Carlton are $159 a night single or double.

You’ll leave the Summer Institute with a bibliography of resources, a SWOT analysis, practical, interactive training activities, and more. Whether you are an experienced higher education professional looking for new training techniques and tools or someone who is new to the field or to a new position, you will leave this Institute with the knowledge to implement best practices in mentor and tutor training.

Registration will open on April 3, 2017.

To learn more or register, visit the CRLA Summer Institute website.

College Reading & Learning Association updated their status.

Another CRLA Annual Conference has come and gone, and there are more people that we would like to thank and congratulate than there is room for in a single post. The Annual Conference is a time when we can all come together to share our knowledge and experience. It is a time for us to learn from each other, network and meet new colleagues, and catch up with long-time friends we may see more rarely than we'd like. It's a special time and place for many of us--to reconnect with each other and with our passion for what we do. First of all, congratulations to our now President Jack Trammell and on-site Chair Cathy Leist for organizing such a wonderful conference for our field! Your hard work over the last year in preparation for this conference was impressive and so appreciated by everyone in attendance. Thank you to all of the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make each event, tour, reception, and hospitality suite enjoyable and successful! Your efforts did not go unnoticed! Thank you to the staff of the Louisville Marriott Downtown for your hospitality and amazing service. It was a pleasure to stay in your hotel and explore your city! Thank you to every single presenter who shared their research and experience with us--from the pre-conference institutes to the roundtables to the lunches with mentors. This conference was and will continue to be a success because of colleagues like you! Thank you to our Board members, Committee Chairs, SIG and S/R/C Coordinators, SIG and S/R/C Leaders, and all others in leadership roles for CRLA! In particular, thank you to our unwavering leader of the last year, our steadfast captain, our now Past President, Dorothy Briggs: you guided us through a fantastic year and we thank you for all that you did and continue to do--for our organization, leaders, members, and field. Thank you for showing us how important it is to connect, share, and inspire. Congratulations to all of our award winners! There are so many deserving folks in CRLA, and these individuals are an example of the amazing work and dedication our members and students bring to our organization. Congratulations to our 2016 ITTPC Rick Sheets Outstanding Tutor Award winner, Ann Strom, from the University of Northern Iowa's College Reading and Learning Center! Congratulations to our 2016 IMTPC Outstanding Mentor Award winner, Gabriel Isaac Sáenz Correa, from Texas State University! Congratulations to the 2016 recipients of the Robert Griffin Award for Long and Outstanding Service, Olga Thurman and Tina Kondopoulos! Congratulations to the 2016 recipient of the Karen G. Smith Special Recognition Award, Lindley Workman Alyea! Thank you to every first-time attendee! Whatever your reason for deciding to attend your first CRLA Conference, we thank you. We hope that you got everything you wanted and more out of the experience. We hope it wasn't the last time we'll see you! Thank you to every returning attendee! Whether this was your second CRLA Conference or your 40th, we cannot thank you enough for your continued support and engagement. We can't wait to see you again next year as we celebrate 50 years in Pittsburgh! Thank you to every CRLA member--new and long-standing. You are what makes CRLA great. You are CRLA. And we thank you.
